1. Do I have to be a member to participate?
Nope! Many of our events and workshops are open to the public. However, becoming a member helps you stay informed and involved in planning and collaborative opportunities.
2. Is membership free?
Yes! Membership is completely free and open to anyone who supports our mission of building creative community along the border.
We require member interest to follow community guidelines by signing our digital BAS General Member Policy Agreement.
3. Is there an age limit to join or participate?
No age limit! We welcome artists, creatives, and supporters of all ages. We even have parent members who attend with their kids.
4. Can I bring my child to meetings or events?
Absolutely. Parents are welcome to bring children. Several of our members are parents and help create programming for different age groups.
5. Can I host my solo exhibition with BAS?
We love supporting local artists! Right now we are only focused on group exhibitions. We’re open to assisting members who need help for solo shows depending on timing, space, and community interest. However, you would have to make the arrangement for location and other details.
6. I have an idea for a program or event. Can I share it?
Yes, please! We’re always open to new ideas and community-led projects. Come to a meeting to learn about our membership. We require everyone who wants to do a pitch to fill out our BAS Program Development request to be reviewed by the team first.
7. Where are your meetings held?
We meet every 3rd Wednesday of the month at 7 PM. We encourage you to follow our Facebook page to keep up on which location we will be meeting at.
8. Are events free to attend?
Most of our events are free or donation-based. Some workshops may have a small fee to cover materials or instruction.
9. Do I have to pay for classes?
Many classes are low-cost and include materials. We aim to keep things affordable and accessible. Check individual event listings for pricing details.
10. How do I keep up with group chats and updates?
We share updates via social media and have a Discord community channel. Make sure to come to our meetings to get registered!
